ZE Books has embarked on a new UK sales and distribution partnership with independent music book publisher Omnibus Press, with titles to be distributed by Macmillan Distribution from April 2026.

It is hoped the partnership will strengthen the imprint’s visibility in the UK trade as it expands its music-led publishing programme. ZE Books was formerly distributed in the UK by Inpress Books.

Founded in 2019 by Michael Zilkha in memory of his friend Glenn O’Brien, ZE Books launched with Intelligence for Dummies, a volume designed by Jiminie Ha at With Projects, Inc, who has since shaped the look of the press’ hardback series.

The imprint has published 12 titles to date spanning music, art, experimental writing, poetry, fiction and memoir, with authors including Mary Gaitskill, Nick Flynn, Jonathan Lethem, Joe Boyd and Lynn Hershman Leeson.

The new arrangement comes as ZE Books hones its focus on music publishing, with its next six titles including How to Prepare For the Past: Travels in Music and Time by writer and musician Brian Cullman and Tastykakes, Soul Songs and Shining Stars: Affections and Reflections 1973-2025 by Joe McEwen.

Zilkha said: “Having grown up and developed my passion for music in England, I am especially excited to have found a sympathetic home here at Omnibus, a publisher who truly loves and appreciates the form in all of its glory and variety.”

Omnibus Press sales and marketing director Neal Price said: “We are all thrilled to be working with Michael and the ZE Books team. It’s inspiring to work on such beautiful books and with such wonderful writers. When I first met Michael it quickly became clear that our ambitions for our respective titles match and that working together only made us both stronger.”
